The Thurmes bunch
Hi everyone,
Sorry I have no pictures....have plenty but just not the time right now. Chuck and Faith's post inspired me to update you just a little about our kids and ken and I.
Starting with Jenna and Matt.....They have scaled back the number of weddings this year and hope to have a more balanced year. Their goal is about 26....about half of what they did this year. Katie is working with them and in a week or so are cruising the carribean for a destination wedding. Then in June, Matt and Jenna will do a destination wedding in Cancun. Working and seeing the world is a great combination! Matt is still teaching kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders at the Stanley Brittish Primary School in Denver....he relates well and makes school fun for those little buggers. As I said, katie is working with jenna and matt but also securing her own clients with wedding and familly photography.. She is growing her business as she continues to be mentored by Matt and Jenna. They recently held a workshop in Boulder for photographers around the country....a new venture for them....lot's of work but successful I believe.
Katie moved to her own apartment with 2 girlfriends in February. When we visited early April we were able to see it....It's really a cute house in a cute area of Denver....She's a busy girl working with Jenna and until mid April, skiing quite a bit. She's coming home for Corissa and Chris's wedding and again in july for a family vacation.. Can't wait.
Anna has been killing herself with work and school . I can hardly bear to hear all the papers and projects that are due...it seems constant. She has about 2 years in her doctorate with about 2 to go. She's working about 20-30 hrs /wk besides carrying a full load at school....This costs her at least 2-3 migraines per week!! She loves her work and aims to make a difference in the lives of kids and adults and families affected by Cranial facial problems, primarily cleft lip and palates. She just spent a week in Colorado visiting her sisters and Matt and attending the National Cleft lip and Palate conference there. She actually gave a presentation to a group of about 200 people. Ken and I had the pleasure of caring for her year old puggy doggy, Evie...She's a bed hog and is very needy but makes up for it in cuteness.
As for ken and I , we've had a few nice trips. One to see the girls and Matt in April, to Puerto Vallarta in Feb.(with Matt and jenna, and a work trip for me in March to Stanford to the school of Sleep medicine. Now we're mostly busy cleaning up the yard as many of you are also I'm sure. I've asked myself more than once "just how long do I think my body can rake and haul and dig and drag and scrape and paint?" ...it's a huge job cleaning up after winter has done it's job. We do have 2 new little trees in our yard as of this weekend....it is fun watching stuff grow...
Ken is back to playing golf a couple times a week...something he really loves. We've both been pretty committed to working out at the YMCA here in Hastings since October '06..I think it might be paying off although I did injure my shoulder being a little over zealous and it's taking forever to heal.
We're looking forward to the 2 Siebenaler weddings this summer....Ryan and Corissa and to welcome Cheryl and Chris officially into the Family. Our Prayers are with Rose and Butch as the Dr's are trying to figure out the reason for her very bad headaches..
Our love to all of you and thanks for your postings...keep them coming. Diane/Ken
